At least 89 people were killed and scores more injured Tuesday in a massive stampede at a Hindu temple in the western state of Rajasthan, a senior state official said.
"As of now we can confirm 89 deaths," Kiran Soni Gupta, divisional commissioner of Jodhpur, told AFP.
"We have asked army doctors to help" in rescue and relief operations, she added.
Officials said around 150 others were hurt in the stampede.
