Senegal Prostitution Ramadan
A woman who asked not to be identified but said she supports her young son through occasional sex work, smokes as she waits for clients at a hotel bar in Dakar, Senegal, in the early morning hours of Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010. The woman didn't find any clients on this night, one of the last nights of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Ramadan is bad news for sex workers on the streets of Senegal, because observant Muslims wishing to purify their soul and purge sin, do not eat or smoke during the day and during the holy month can only have sex at night with their spouses. Prostitution is legal in Senegal where about 94 percent of the population is Muslim. (AP Photo/Rebecca Blackwell)
